Now let me start with a little preview of what you have been missing, then I'm handing it over to the genius behind the series... Lisa Beth Darling!!

Of War Preview
Inside the Heart of every Warrior breathes the Soul of a Hero--even within The Heart of War

That's right, warriors need love too and Ares God of War is no different although he used to like to think he was until Maggie MacLeod came along and turned his world upside down in The Heart of War book #1 in the OF WAR Series of highly dark and adult romances.

It hardly seems like that was four years ago that our hero the grumpy, broody, and often intimidating God of War found a Fey washed up on the shore of his secluded isle.  Of course, being the arrogant god that he is the very first thing he did was change her name to Alena. Not that she minded, with the new name came a new woman one with renewed passion.

In all of that time our hero and heroine have been through many trials and tribulations as they struggled to build a family and life for themselves away from the divinely dysfunctional Olympians.  Who can ever forget Raven's harrowing birth or blood oath demanded of Ares by Zeus in Child of War-A God is Born?  Not to mention Raven forcing his pregnant mother down a very long set of marble stairs.

There have been good times too I think we all found a new use for peppermint oil in Christmas Eve on Olympus. (wink)

Of course there was the time that Raven inadvertently helped to destroy the world in Child of War-Rising Son. It wasn't all his fault, growing up Olympian ain't easy especially not when everyone absolutely hates you. With an Uncle like Apollo nobody needs enemies.
In Women of War we looked back on Maggie's heritage from her great grandmother Shar Draíocht the Last Queen of the Dark Kingdom to her mother the wild and wanton Maven. We discovered the secret connection between Alena and her beloved Ares.

Now as we close out the OF WAR Series with Kingdoms of War it's time to find out if Ares and Alena will have their Happily Ever After or they will forever be separated by the Gods and their unruly Son. I hope you'll join me for this explosive finale.

With nearly four billion souls lost to the ravages of anarchy and the dreaded disease Major Falls, Ares and Raven journey the Mortal World vainly reaching for a sliver of what was only to discover what will be. Unleashed by Apollo, Major Falls—a weaponized version of the flu and rabies-- has wiped out every person of watery Mortal Blood.

From the fiery wreckage a new world is slowly arising one where the descendants of Olympians, Celts, Dark Fae, and all manner of Magickal Being will rule. For the last millennium the Dark Kingdom has sent small legions of its Daughters in search of its Lost Queen. Among their number is Lenora, a sharp tongued Dark Fae who joins up with ARES hoping to get close to its leader, Raven. And she does.

The Wolf inside the God of War contracts Major Falls. As Ares and Athena wander the world hoping to curtail further damage by obliterating weapons of mass destruction he slowly succumbs to the sickness taking over his fevered rabid mind. Ares may not live to see the glory of Olympus restored nor fight to keep his Wife. If he does, how high will be the price for Ares' life? How long will Alena have to keep paying Apollo even once Ares is crowned King of Olympus?

EXCERPT-Adult Audiences
In one swiftly flowing motion, Ares pulled her out from behind him to settle her crosswise on his lap like a girl telling Santa what she wanted for Christmas.  She wasn't a little girl and Ares was fully aware he was not Santa Claus.  "I love you," he confessed as he looped one arm around her slender waist.  "I will never let you go."  In his arms she smiled at him as her eyes filled with sparkles, making his heart a little lighter.  "Never."

Bringing the strong hand in her hair to her mouth she brushed a lingered kiss over the back while she turned around inside his hold until her naked body faced him with each of her legs wrapped around his taut waist.   Their lovemaking earlier tonight had been extraordinarily athletic and lengthy, she wasn't sure that she was up for another round and he wasn't, not yet anyway, although the first stirrings of life were twitching against the soft moistening place between her legs.  Wrapping her hands around his neck and grabbing up tufts of his midnight hair she sighed in a sultry whisper, "Do you know how much it turns me on when you say that?"

Grabbing one firm round cheek in the palm of each hand, Ares stood up, bolted to the nearest wall, and planted her back up against it so roughly she let out a cry of painful delight.  Ares had just enough time to feel her yank his hair hard before her hands fell to his shoulders where he grabbed them up faster than lightning to pin them to the rock wall high above her head between two fingers.  "I know how much you like this."  His cock did more than just twitch when she shuddered and let out a heated coo; it threatened to explode open as it rushed to full hardness bringing with it a wild wave of desire.  Holding her hands firm and keeping her seated in the palm of one large hand, his mouth moved in to cover the sweet spot just below her left ear.  Sucking hard on the tender flesh and giving it a meaningful yank with his sharp teeth released gasps of pleasure from her.  Yet, wanting him to master her, Alena fought against the rising tide of desire as she tried to free her hands, straining and pulling within the ring of his fingers until she worked up a sweat and started sliding free.  Without stopping his work, Ares lifted her hands away from the wall and brought them back to the rock with a good deal of force.  Pinned between the unforgiving muscles of his electrified body and the unforgiving rock of the cave wall, Alena gasped and quivered against him sending shock waves of wanton passion exploding outward from the pit of his tight abs down to the hungry creature howling for another meal and upward through his heart, making it quicken on its way to his head where it dazzled him in a brilliant display of pulsing color and tingling sensation.  Soon the intoxicating scent of wild honeysuckle and the primal aroma of the musk between her legs filled his flaring nostrils and made him begin to growl.

Review of Dystopian Fantasy book: Dissension (Chronicles of the Uprising) by Katie Salidas

K.A Salidas - Dissension photo KaieSalidas_Dissension_zps7ea5c33b.jpgTitle: Dissension
Series: Chronicles of the Uprising, book 1
Author: Katie (K.A) Salidas
Genre: Dystopian Fantasy
Warning: Some strong language, gore and sexual content

Official Synopsis:
The great cataclysm wiped almost all life from the face of planet Earth, but tiny pockets of survivors crawled from the ashes, with only one thought: survival, at any cost. But not all survivors were human.

In the dark, militant society that has risen in the aftermath, vampires, once thought to be mythical, have been assimilated and enslaved. Used for blood sport their lives are allowed to continue only for the entertainment of the masses. Reviled as savages, they are destined to serve out their immortal lives in the arena, as gladiators. And there is no greater gladiator than Mira: undefeated, uncompromising...and seemingly unbreakable. When an escape attempt leads Mira into the path of Lucian Stavros, the city’s Regent, her destiny is changed forever.

Lucian, raised in a culture which both reviles and celebrates the savagery and inhumanity of vampires, finds Mira as intriguing as she is brash. An impulsive decision - to become Mira’s patron – changes more than just Lucian’s perception about vampire kind. The course of his life is altered in ways he could never have predicted – a life that is suddenly as expendable as hers.

Can Mira prove to Lucian that all is not as it seems? Can Lucian escape centuries of lies, bloodshed, and propaganda to see the truth? Or will the supreme power of the human overlords destroy them both?

My Review
When the world as we know it ends, the real monsters of this world are revealed and it's sure not the vampires.

This book is a page-turner filled with action, mystery, and violence, as we follow Mira on her quest for survival. With each page brings renewed hope, new horrors and non-stop twists and turns that explodes with an ending you never saw coming. Katie Salidas, you have earned yourself a new fan.

Dissension is in one word...Un-put-downable! I read this book in one sitting and have started the second book of the series.

Mira is a vampire imprisoned and used as a warrior by the humans. Each week she must fight and kill her own kind to feed the blood-thirty humans need for violence as she performs in the gladiator ring. Funny, weren't her kind the supposed blood thirsty ones? She performs and is the undefeated champion, meaning she has killed countless of her fellow vampires. Her only other alternative is death and death is not an option. Mira is a survivor. A survivor hoping to flee the prison and be free. She knows first hand the real monsters are not the vampires, but the humans. Savages that torture her kind, and makes her kill her own kind for sport. She continues to fight hoping that one day she could escape and be free once again. She never thought a human just might be her saving grace.

Lucien is an Elite taught that vampires are killing machines that threaten humanity. When he spots a vampire showing mercy to a human, when that human only wanted her death, he realizes that the humans were terribly wrong. He decides to become her patron to learn more about her and her kind. What he didn't realize was how much she was going to turn his world upside down.

Together they learn that what they thought they knew about each other, and their species, was wrong... but is that enough? Can Mira really trust Lucien or is he just using her for a purpose far more sinister then she could ever imagine? Is he her saving grace or the one man who will end her kind once and for all?

If you were in the room with me right now, you would hear me squealing. This book is amazing. Katie Salidas world and character building are impeccable. I was emotionally connected to the characters. I could see the horrors through their eyes and I literally had to stop reading a few times, scared at what I might find on the next page. It is an edge of your seat thrill ride from the very first page until the last.

Mira is tough-as-nails with a soft spot that she conceals pretty well. Being an undefeated vampire warrior and prisoner to the humans does that to a girl. She knows showing weakness can get you killed, and if she is anything, she is a survivor. You can't help but root for her every step of the way as she struggles to stay alive, find a way out and help her kind once and for all. She also is a bad-ass with a sarcastic mouth, and who doesn't love that!

Lucien is a man of mystery. You want him to be as kind-hearted as he seems, especially since he is hot....that always helps :-) As he tries to prove himself to Mira, I was left as confused as she was. Is he really a good guy? The constant twists and turns will leave you racing through the pages to find the answer to that question and many more.

As you might have guessed, I love this book. Check back later in the week for my review of book 2 of the series, Complication!

Review of Paranormal Romance / Urban Fantasy book: Hunger by Felicity Heaton!

Felicity Heaton turns up the heat with her new un-put-downable read: Hunger!

 photo Hunger_zps1fee6d57.jpg Title: Hunger
Series: Vampire Realm Series, book 8 (can be read out of order)
Author: Felicity Heaton
Genre: Adult Paranormal Romance

Synopsis Betrayed by one of her own and turned into a vampire, hunter Eve is consumed by her hunger for vengeance and has spent five years surviving hell, driven to take the life of the man she once loved. But just as she is about to close in on the hunter-turned-vampire, an event is set in motion that threatens to see him slip beyond her grasp forever—the leader of her bloodline has sent an escort to bring her to the family’s mansion. To a nest of the very creatures she once hunted and loathes.

A vampire assassin hardened by centuries of service, Tor is a man of discipline and loyalty, never straying from his mission or the rules set out for him, and has purged all his weaknesses, including his emotions.

But the moment he meets the broken, fiery female he is to escort to Oslo, something dangerous awakens in him, something possessive and powerful, and when he is pulled into a deadly game of cat and mouse with the man who betrayed her, Tor discovers he will do anything to protect the woman slowly claiming his heart and give her the vengeance she desires—even break all the rules.

Can Eve embrace her new vampire nature in order to have her revenge and find a reason to live again in Tor? Can Tor and Eve stop the man who betrayed her and the deaths of thousands of innocents? Or will he succeed in creating a new army of hybrid vampires who will rise up against the purebloods?

My Review
You are going to need a cold shower, heart medication and some serious yoga to calm down after reading this action-packed, steamy, romance-filled thriller of a book!

Felicity Heaton has worked her magic once again with Hunger. Her winning combo of a kick-ass heroine, a hardened warrior and non-stop action will leave you hungry for more.

Eve is a fighter who is now the very creature she once hunted - a vampire. The only thing keeping her alive, when all she wants is a stake in the heart, is her need for revenge...that is until Tor walks into the room.

Tor has two goals in life - to follow orders when completing his missions and to survive. He doesn't need emotions clouding up his judgment or deterring him from his duties...until he sets eyes on Eve.

Eve and hor are both warriors and Tor knows all to well about revenge. On his path to completing his mission and on her way to getting revenge, they realize the very thing they are both missing are found in each other. Together they are unstoppable...or are they?

How much is Eve willing to lose to get revenge? Will Tor be able to help Eve or will he lose her and himself in the process?

I could not tear myself away from Hunger. The non-stop action had me at the edge of my seat. The growing, and very steamy, romance was electric. Lastly, the characters and the world-building made me feel like I knew each character personally and that I was just another person going along for the ride.

Eve is now a vampire struggling to come to terms with the fact that she is the very creature she once hunted. Tor is a hunter shunned by the elite in the vampire community. They are both warriors, tortured souls and when they find each other, they find the missing puzzle piece that each was missing in their lives.

With each page read, another layer of both Eve and Tor is pulled back, and you discover a little more about each of them. They both desire to be strong and courageous, but each is vulnerable in their own way, and I love it.

Eve and Tor are both so complex and believable. They are not like other couples I have read about in paranormal romance books. Unlike most characters, they are not polar opposites. They are both warriors driven by purpose and when they come together, whether on the battle field or in the bedroom, they are just explosive.

If you are looking for page-turner filled with hot romance, kick-ass action and non-stop danger, then Hunger by Felicity Heaton is just what Dr. Evie prescribes!

This book is rated 4.5 Fangs!

This weeks Question: Tell us about one of your hobbies that is NOT reading.
Hmmm, let me think. I love to write, but I somehow like to group that with reading. Many bloggers are aspiring authors, or started out blogging, so that just seems like a cop-out. So I'm going to go with my love of at-home fitness. I have completed Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire by Chalene Johnson. I also completed Insanity and am in Month 2 of T25 by Shaun T.  Disclaimer - I am in no way affiliated with Beachbody. I just love their workouts, especially if Shaun T is the trainer!

I also mix in some Jackie Warner Power Circuit Training for good measure. I have been losing weight and focusing on getting stronger and healthier. Here is a progress pic of me. I am about to get my ass handed to me yet again, but "I'm smiling because I love it". If you have ever done a Shaun T workout, you will recognize that quote.

For good measure and because I love animals, especially my fur babies, here is a pic of my other hobby...playing with my pets :-)

What are your hobbies? Can't wait to read all about them.
