Mead Mania: Succubus On Top Review (Succubus Nights in the UK)

Succubus on Top (Georgina Kincaid, Book 2)

Title: Succubus On Top  (Succubus Nights in the UK)
Series: Georgina Kincaid Series, book 2
Author: Richelle Mead

Official Summary:
Georgina Kincaid’s job sucks. Literally.
Love hurts, and no one knows it better than Georgina Kincaid. If she so much as kisses her new boyfriend, she’ll drain his life force. Georgina is a succubus—a demon who draws her power from other men’s pleasure. Admittedly, the shapeshifting and immortality perks are terrific, and yes, Georgina did choose to join the ranks of hell centuries ago. But it seems completely unfair that a she-demon whose purpose is seduction can’t get hot and heavy with the one mortal who knows and accepts her for who she is.

It’s not just her personal life that’s in chaos. Doug, Georgina’s co-worker at a local bookstore, has been exhibiting bizarre behavior, and Georgina suspects that something far more demonic than double espressos is at work. She could use help finding out, but Bastien, an irresistibly charming incubus and her best immortal friend, is preoccupied in the suburbs with corrupting an ultra-conservative talk radio star—and giving Georgina some highly distracting come-hither vibes. Georgina is going to have to work solo on this one—and fast because soon, Doug’s life won’t be the only one on the line…

My Review:
If Georgina's life was bad before, she is in for a  big surprise. It's one thing to be a lonely soul sucking Succubus, who fills her lack of romance by hanging out with friends, being great at her job at the bookstore, and fulfilling her night job by sucking the lives out of bad guys - she hates corrupting innocent men. All that changed when she met Seth. He is the love of her life, her favorite author, her new beau (yay), and human (boo). Since she can't so much as kiss him without taking away bits of his soul (hence the boo next to human), she has a love life that is purely platonic. If that doesn't add enough strain to the relationship as it is, add the fact that she must sleep with men to maintain her life force, (and fill her Succubus quotas) and you have a very weird bump in the relationship road to get through. Did I mention that she had to start taking the souls of innocent men in order to protect Seth's memories from her demon boss? Yes, life really does suck sometimes! A brief glint of sunshine seems to shed on her when her bff Batien comes to town. That is short lived when she finds herself helping her fellow incubus friend in his attempt to seduce a seemingly "moral" campaigner, and finds out that he may look at her as more than just a friend.  If that wasn't stressful enough, her good friend Doug has been acting strangely, and this strange behavior is quickly spreading to her other friends. Georgina doesn't smell a rat behind this scenario - she smells an immortal. That means everyone is in danger, including Georgina!

The second installment of the Georgina Kincaid series keeps that pace of danger, mystery, romance, and great writing! Mead has done it again, and you Mead / Succubus Blues fans will find yourself pulling your hair out with frustration, cheering with happiness, and flying through the book to figure out the ending. This, like the others, should be on your TBR book shelf!

Finished with the first two installments of the series. Check out the rest:
Succubus Dreams (Georgina Kincaid, Book 3)
Succubus Heat (Georgina Kincaid, Book 4)
Succubus Shadows (Georgina Kincaid, Book 5)

This book is rated 4 fangs:

Hey Carrie! If you love the Vampire Academy series, which is my absolute favorite series of all time, then pick up this series or Mead's other series called Dark Swan, and you won't be disappointed. Dark Swan is actually tied with Vampire Academy for my #1 spot. I love them both.

A good premise for a book. Or series, rather. I might have to buy this for my fiancee, and, you know, read it before I give it to her to make sure it is worthy of being a gift for her.

Hey Doug! It is a great series. Yes, I'm sure you're going to read it just to make sure you give your fiancee a good gift - wink, wink. You are too funny :-) Make sure to remove the jacket of the book, or your cover will be completely blown..lol
