Series: Vampire Academy Book #2
Author: Richelle Mead
Rose Hathaway's got serious guy trouble. Her gorgeous tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason has a huge crush on her, and she keeps getting stuck in her best friend Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian. (So not cool).
Then a massive Strigoi attack puts St. Vladimir's on high alert, and the Academy crawls with Guardians--including the legendary Janine Hathaway...Rose's formidable, long-absent mother. The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks. This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.
But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only provide the illusion of safety. When three students run away to strike back against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. Only this time, Rose--and her heart--are in more danger than she ever could have imagined...
Richelle Mead has done the impossible by making this book even better than the first. Since I am reviewing after rereading the series, thus knowing the outcome, I can say that this trend continues. The series just gets better! Just when you think it can't get any better, she comes out with another great installment to the series.
Rose, our favorite bad-ass heroine, is back and her life is even more complicated than before. For one, she dealing with impossible love. She is in love with her older and very sexy guardian trainer Dimitri, but her being his student and underage makes this love story come to a screeching halt. And now someone has her sights on Dimitri and he seems to like her too. As if watching the love of her life fall in love with someone else isn't bad enough she also has to deal with getting sucked into Lissa's head when she is with her boyfriend. All of the love surrounding her makes her want some loving of her own. There is Mason, her friend who has a huge crush on her and a huge heart to match. There is also Adrian - a Moroi she meets with a player past, strange tendencies, but a mystique that attracts her to him. But everything is put on hold when a string of Strigoi attacks puts those she loves most in danger. When three of her friends sneaks out and goes on a crazy Strigoi manhunt mission, it's up to Rose and Christian to save their friends before they all end up dead!
This book is a whirlwind, roller coaster of a ride that will make you laugh, cry, scream, and you heart pound while your fingers fly through the pages. The sexual tension with Dimitri makes you want to pull your hair out and the introduction of Adrian will make it even worse. His laid back, strange and funny attitude will make even Dimitri fans like him. Add in Mason, the good guy with a streak of "bad-assness" to match Rose is also vying for her affections. Along with romance, is danger and murder. The murders are adding up and the unpredictable ending will have you breathless.
This is another must read! This book is rated 5 fangs:
