Dead People Book Review and Giveaway Details! Last Chance to Enter!!

Dead People (Haunted Hearts)

Title: Dead People
Series: Haunted Hearts
Author: Edie Ramer

Official Synopsis
When Cassie Taylor talks, ghosts listen. She wants to heal their souls so they can leave earth. Brooding songwriter Luke Rivers wants to give his recently found daughter a normal home, but he discovers his new house in small town Wisconsin is haunted by a ghost with an attitude. Cassie has an attitude too — even before someone tries to kill her.
He wants conventional; she wants acceptance. No wonder she thinks men are hard and dead people are easy

My Review
Edie Ramer once again proves that she is a force to be reckoned with. It's not easy to find a book that has it all: Love, Danger, Mystery, Romance, Sorrow, Happiness...I could go on and on, the point is that you can name any number of emotions or aspects that makes up a great book and Dead People has it! What really puts Edie Ramer in a different class, is how she is able to make a book that is unique and a true breathe of fresh air in a genre that is growing by the minute.

This book had me at Chapter One! This story has number of different story lines going on, all related and all surrounded by cloud of mystery until the reveal at the very end. Cassie Taylor talks to ghost and is a paid "ghost therapist" who is brought in when ghosts refuse to make their way to the other side. Use to ridicule, she distances herself from the living and takes refuge in the form of her dead best friend Joe. She is happy with her life and her profession, but all that changes the day she meets famous songwriter Luke Rivers. Luke has hot bad boy tattooed on his forehead, but those days are long gone since he now has custody of his 10 year old daughter Erin. Just finding out he has a daughter is rough, but realizing that you daughter has been living with a mother who is junkie is even harder. Erin wants her mom and blames herself for all of her mom's problems. Luke wants to be a good dad but knows nothing in how to raise a child, especially one who is so clearly hurting. She hates him, wants her mom and Luke is clueless on how to fix the situation. It is made even worse when he finds out his new house is haunted. He hires Cassie to get rid of the ghost, but he and Erin get much more than they bargained for when she steps into their life. Erin takes to Cassie, Luke wants Cassie, Cassie doesn't know what she wants, and one person wants to destroy their lives. The ghost was murdered and as they uncover the truth they realize that they are not just dealing with a ghost haunting, they are dealing with a murderer who is still out there and is willing to do anything to keep this murder a secret.

This book is an absolute must read! If you love romance, mystery, danger, drama, and laughter, then this is the book for you.

This book is rated: 5 Fangs!

City of Bones Casting News!

We are going to see the characters come to life in the movie adaptation of City of Bones by Cassandra Clare! Casting has already started and it was just announced that Lily Collins, who starred in The Blind Side, has been cast to play Clary. A picture tells a thousand words so here she is:

I actually think they did a great job in picking Lily to play Clary. She completely looks the part, especially with curly hair. As long as she does a good job playing a leading role aka as long as the girl can act, I think her playing Clary is awesome! What do you think?

Who should play Jace? He has yet to be cast and I'm hoping they pick a good one!

Shadow Kiss Book Review (VA Series) and Giveaway Reminders

Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy, Book 3)

Title: Shadow Kiss
Series: Vampire Academy Book #3
Author: Richelle Mead

Official Synopsis
It's springtime at St. Vladimir's Academy and Rose is close to graduation, but since making her first Strigoi kills, things haven't felt quite right. She's having dark thoughts, behaving erratically, and worst of all . . . might be seeing ghosts. Consumed by her forbidden love with her tutor Dimitri and protecting her best friend, the Moroi princess Lissa, Rose is in no state to see the deadly threat that will change her entire world - and make her choose between the two people she loves most.

My Review
As I said before about this series, the books get better with each installment and this one takes the cake. Rose is living in a daze while trying to pretend that she is fine. This comes to an end when she starts to see ghosts. So close to graduation she feels her life slipping through her fingers. She is in love with a man she can't have, even though he loves her too; she wants to be Lissa's guardian but is failing at her tests because of the spirits distracting her, and the carefree person she once was is buried with her dead friend, and has been replaced by a dark urge that drivers her mad. Struggling to break free of the many obstacles trying to hold her back she is faced with a decision that is harder than any situation she has ever dealt with. Rose must choose between the two people she loves the most and either way - she is destined to lose one of them.

This is such an emotional thriller of a read with a super shocker ending. You will cry, you will scream, your heart will sing, it will break, and once you are done all you'll want to do is read the next installment of this series.

This book is rated 5 fangs:

Frostbite Book Review (VA Book 2) and Giveaway Reminders

Frostbite (Vampire Academy, Book 2)

Title: Frostbite
Series: Vampire Academy Book #2
Author: Richelle Mead

Official Summary
Rose Hathaway's got serious guy trouble. Her gorgeous tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason has a huge crush on her, and she keeps getting stuck in her best friend Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian. (So not cool).

Then a massive Strigoi attack puts St. Vladimir's on high alert, and the Academy crawls with Guardians--including the legendary Janine Hathaway...Rose's formidable, long-absent mother. The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks. This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only provide the illusion of safety. When three students run away to strike back against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. Only this time, Rose--and her heart--are in more danger than she ever could have imagined...

My Review
Richelle Mead has done the impossible by making this book even better than the first. Since I am reviewing after rereading the series, thus knowing the outcome, I can say that this trend continues. The series just gets better! Just when you think it can't get any better, she comes out with another great installment to the series.

Rose, our favorite bad-ass heroine, is back and her life is even more complicated than before. For one, she dealing with impossible love. She is in love with her older and very sexy guardian trainer Dimitri, but her being his student and underage makes this love story come to a screeching halt. And now someone has  her sights on Dimitri and he seems to like her too. As if watching the love of her life fall in love with someone else isn't bad enough she also has to deal with getting sucked into Lissa's head when she is with her boyfriend. All of the love surrounding her makes her want some loving of her own. There is Mason, her friend who has a huge crush on her and a huge heart to match. There is also Adrian - a Moroi she meets with a player past, strange tendencies, but a mystique that attracts her to him. But everything is put on hold when a string of Strigoi attacks puts those she loves most in danger. When three of her friends sneaks out and goes on a crazy Strigoi manhunt mission, it's up to Rose and Christian to save their friends before they all end up dead!

This book is a whirlwind, roller coaster of a ride that will make you laugh, cry, scream, and you heart pound while your fingers fly through the pages. The sexual tension with Dimitri makes you want to pull your hair out and the introduction of Adrian will make it even worse. His laid back, strange and funny attitude will make even Dimitri fans like him. Add in Mason, the good guy with a streak of "bad-assness" to match Rose is also vying for her affections. Along with romance, is danger and murder. The murders are adding up and the unpredictable ending will have you breathless.

This is another must read! This book is rated 5 fangs:

Vampire Acaademy Book Review; Giveaway Reminders!

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, Book 1)

Title: Vampire Academy
Series: Vampire Academy, Book 1
Author: Richelle Mead

Official Synopsis
Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with an unbreakable bond to the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest and most dangerous vampires--the ones who never die.

The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a Dhampir; she is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making her one of them.

After two years of illicit freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir's Academy, hidden in the deep forests of Montana. Rose will continue her Dhampir education. Lissa will go back to being Queen of the elite Moroi social scene. And both girls will resume breaking hearts.

Fear made Lissa and Rose run away from St. Vladimir's--but their world is fraught with danger both inside and out of the Academy's iron gates. Here, the cutthroat ranks of the Moroi perform unspeakable rituals and their secretive nature and love of the night creates an enigmatic world full of social complexities. Rose and Lissa must navigate through this dangerous world, confront the temptation of forbidden romance, and never once let their guard down, lest the Strigoi make Lissa one of them forever...

My Review
Vampire Academy is the book that completely changed me into a true die hard PNR and UF fan. Why? Because Richelle Meade made a book that is both YA and adults can read. A book that has it all! A book that can easily become "Book Crack" - That is my term for a book that becomes completely addictive to the point of re-reading several times. I have never been a re-reader, and I'm still not - but this series is the exception. I can never get tired of it and even after rereading it several times, it still makes my heart race and my eyes sleepy from staying up to read it from beginning to end in one sitting.

Rose is a bad-ass heroine unlike any I have encountered in a YA novel. She is a tough talking, quick punching, and sexy girl that will do and give up anything to protect her bff Lissa. See, she is a Dhamphir, a half vamp/half human, who is training to become a guardian. Guardians protect Moroi who are good vamps from Strigoi who are the bad vamps that kill when drinking blood. The Moroi of most importance to Rose is Lissa. Not only is Lissa her bff and the Moroi she protects - Rose is also bonded to her. She can jump into Lissa;s mind and sense her feelings. Weird but very helpful when it comes to becoming her guardian. Her desire to protect Lissa is why she took her from St. Vlad's, but when the school finds them and drags them back, Rose faces a different type of danger. She is falling for her older guardian trainer Dimitri - the very guy who dragged them back. As if her attraction to her super hot and way older trainer isn't enough, someone is threatening Lissa and it's up to Rose to find out who before it's too late.

I only have two more words to say...READ IT! It will change your life...seriously :-)

This book is rated 10 fangs on a scale of 1-5. Since I must stick to protocol, here are 5 fangs:

Cattitude Book Review and Giveaway Details!

Cattitude

Title: Cattitude

Author: Edie Ramer

Official Summary
It's all in the Cattitude...

After Belle the cat switches bodies with a psychic on the run from a murderer, she wants her perfect cat body back instead of this furless human one. But she doesn't count on falling in love with her former owner. Or that a CEO and a beauty queen want to use up her nine lives. Now is her chance to prove anything a human can do, a cat can do better.

My Review
Edie Ramer did a phenomenal job in writing a book that truly has it all! It is fun, funny, dangerous, mysterious, and filled with a perfect combination of suspense and romance. It's Chick-Lit meets Paranormal Romance, and the combination is explosive!

Belle is a cat that has it all - a beautiful home, an owner (Max) who adores her, and naps in the bed. Her world is turned upside down when Caroline, a widow currently living in Belle's house, decides Max is going to be her future husband. The only thing standing in her way is his annoying cat so she decides to get rid of Belle by throwing her in front of a moving car... Sacha is on the run after witnessing a murder. She is driving fast with the murderer right behind her when something hits her car...

Belle and Sacha's world changes forever when their two worlds collide and they switch bodies. Suddenly Belle is in a human body being rescued by the man she once thought of as her owner (or human slave - we all know cats rule). Soon she finds herself falling in love with him, but how can she be with him when her soul is still that of a cat? Sacha finds herself in a cat body. She is trying to cope with her new cat impulses when a little girl finds her. All of a sudden she finds the love and protection that she never found as a human. What do you do when who you really are is at odds with who you were? Do you return to your old life or live as if it never existed?

This book is a must read. It's for the Chick-Lit and Paranormal Romance lovers; It's for those that love to read Tear-Jerkers, as well as the Page-Turners. What I'm trying to say is - just read it!! You will not be disappointed. It's a light, fun read that still has the suspense, danger and mystery that us heavy PNR fans appreciate.

This book is rated 5 fangs:
