The Mortal Insturments Movie News: Jace Wayland will be played by Jaime Campbell Bower

Photobucket

You read the title correctly. Jace Wayland will be played by Jaime Campbell Bower. Don't remember him? Well, this picture will remind Twihards of his role in the Twilight movies where he played Caius. He will resume the role for the final installments of The Twilight Saga.

Is anyone else very disappointed with their casting choice? I could have named a dozen better choices. Let's hear your thoughts!

Morganville Vampires: Bite Club Book Review

Bite Club (Morganville Vampires, Book 10)

Title: Bite Club
Series: Morganville Vampires, Book 10
Author: Rachel Caine

Official Synopsis
After discovering that vampires populate her town, college student Claire Danvers knows that the undead just want to live their lives. But someone else wants them to get ready to rumble.

There's a new extreme sport getting picked up on the Internet: bare- knuckle fights pitting captured vampires against each other-or humans. Tracking the remote signal leads Claire- accompanied by her friends and frenemies-to discover that what started as an online brawl will soon threaten everyone in Morganville...

My Review
Just when you think this series can't get any better, Mrs. Cain comes out with another extraordinary installment to the MV series that is through-the-roof amazing! Not many authors are able to pull of such a long series (Bite Club is the 10th installment) and still keep the audience guessing, screaming, crying, clapping and cheering, but she does. This series just gets better and better so if you haven't picked it up yet, what are you waiting for?

There is a new gym in Morganville teaching humans martial arts and best of all. the teacher is a vamp. Of course, a chance to fight calls to Shane who believes this is a dream come true. He begins to go to the gym and train but soon his friends notice a change in him. He's hot-headed, short-tempered and seems to be pushing everyone away, including Claire. This makes Claire wary, and she begins to investigate. Dealing with her man problems is just one of her many worries. She is also keeping Frank's presence a secret from Shane, is investigating a murder of a classmate with her friend/boss Myrnin and is soon wondering if Shane is the link to it all. Soon Claire is caught in the middle of a war that is about to hit Morganville like a storm. On one end are her friends, Myrnin and Shane, and on the other end are the vampires. Can she save Shane and her friends before it's too late or will she lose everything to the vampires...including her life?

This book is told in dual perspectives: Shane's and Claire's, which I loved. Being able to glimpse into Shane's thoughts just made me love him even more. He is such a complex character that has been completely put through the ringer. He's a bad boy with a great heart. Put that together with good girl gone ballsy hero Claire and you have one of the cutest relationships in YA PNR! Then there is Myrnin, Claire's pal/boss/crazy vamp that is the highlight of every book. He seems to really care about Claire and combine that compassion with his eccentricities and jokes and you have one of my favorite characters of all time. Jump to Michael and Eve. Michael: the rocker vampire + Eve: the happy goth = One hot, odd and completely adorable couple. They are always there for their friends and for each other. For all you Michael/Eve fans - you are going to love this book!

All in all, I have to say that his is one of my favorite books in the series. It is filled with action, suspense, danger, romance and some very funny moments provided my Myrnin!

This book is rated 5 fangs:

Which is your favorite character in the Morganville series? Who is better for Claire: Shane or Myrnin? Are you a fan of Michael and Eve's relationship?  Let us know!

How many books do you read in a week? And in what format do you read them, or listen to them?
It depends. This week I had to take 5 finals *sigh* so I only read two books, usually I can go through a book a day if it's really good and about 2-3 books a week. I told you I live my life in the Otherworld most of the time..lol. I actually never listed to an audio book *gasp* Maybe one day. I read mostly digital copies - I'm a nookie- and hard copies as well.

What's your reading style?

Question: "What book-to-movie adaption have you most liked? Which have you disliked?" It's not a movie, but a TV show and I know I may catch a lot of hate emails, but I prefer The Vampire Diaries show vs the books. I have a habit of having to finish books even if they are bad in hopes that it will get better, but the books just didn't do it for me. The show is a hit! I can say the same about all of Nicholas Spark's books. I prefer every single movie to his books. There I said it - bring on the hate mail..lol. As for book over movie, nothing comes to mind. Most books are better than the movies, unless you are Nicholas Sparks..hehe.

Question: "Please tell us a little about yourself and what you read?"
I'm Evie, young, married book lover who spends my days at work and my nights in the Otherworld. I love paranormal romance and urban fantasy, although I do read the occasional chick-lit and romance books. I am so happy with the invention of an e-reader because I was literally drowning in books before - thank you tech geniuses. I have a passion for books, chocolate and tequila, many times simultaneously. And most of all, I love to make new book obsessed friends!

Lenny Kravitz Joins the cast of The Hunger Games!!

Lenny Kravitz attends the 2011 NBA All-Star game at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles on February 20, 2011 -- Getty Premium

Lenny Kravitz is the newest member to join the cast of The Hunger Games! He is signed on to play Cinna, the stylist extraordinaire who helps mold Katniss into a fashion icon in the games. He also becomes her biggest supporter and a good friend. I couldn't and still cannot imagine playing the role of Cinna, so it will be interesting to see how this role and the movie in general turns out. The book is so incredible that it's fans are waiting in anticipation and high hopes that the movie will do the book justice!

What do you think about Lenny Kravitz landing the role of Cinna? Do you think he will do the part justice or is this a big boo-boo on the director's judgement?

Let's hear, or rather read, your thought!

It's circle time. Time for us to open up and share. Can you tell us FIVE quirky habits or things about you? We all have them...
Wow, only five - this is easy peasy!
1. I make up my own words, combine words, and make up my own phrases all the time, which is how I got the name Paromantasy. This is bi-lingual trait since I do this in spanish as well. One crazy example of another one is neverago. Neverago - a place that I never visited or went  a long time ago. It is completely made up and makes no sense at all. Here is neverago in a sentence. My friend asked me if I've ever been to Costa Rica. I replied, "Wow, Costa Rica! It's feels like neverago since I've been there." Her eyebrows knit and I reply, "that is my way of saying no." Weird and complicated - that's me!
2. I have a not-so-secret love affair with chocolate, hot sauce, tequila and books. Sometimes simultaneously.
3. I not only make-up words, I make-up dances! My dances are usually funny and lacks any real talent
4. I believe that I will eventually be a supernatural millionaire. All I need is to hit the lotto and have a vampire bite me. Hey - it can happen! Eric from True Blood, please come and bite me already.
5. I rock, literally! I cannot stand still. I sway back and forth, back and forth...yes, people get rather annoyed, but i can't help it.

That's my quirky habits, what's yours?

Question: "If you were given the chance to spend one day in a fictional world (from a book), which book would it be from and what would that place be?"
This one is hard..hmmm. I would spend the day with Nexi, Kyden and the rest of her supernatural friends from The Magical Sword series by Stacey Kennedy. There is such a cool mix of supernatural creatures with excitement, danger and romance at every turn. That is definitely my kind of world!! If you haven't read it, definitely check it out! Review of Once Bitten, Forever Burned by Stacey Kennedy and Eve Langlais

Once Bitten, Forever Burned

Title: Once Bitten, Forever Burned
Anthology: A mini anthology containing:
Cruz’s Salvation by Stacey Kennedy
Devon’s Redemption by Eve Langlais
Authors: Eve Langlais and Stacey Kennedy

Official Synopsis
DEVON’S REDEMPTION by Eve Langlais
Bethany lost her one and only love to a war overseas. As if that weren’t bad enough, a brutal attack and claiming by a Lycan makes her life a living hell. She lives only for revenge until the day love comes back into her life and promises to rescue her from her misery. However, the mate who forced her isn’t about to let her go.
Devon died on the battlefield only to be reborn as a creature of the night. He fights to stay away from his one true love, but when he caves to his desire and sees her again, he discovers redemption is possible even for one who walks in darkness.
Warning: Contains scenes of violence toward the heroine and mentions of rape that might be offensive to some readers. Reader discretion is advised.

CRUZ’S SALVATION by Stacey Kennedy
Cruz understands torment. A mortal turned vampire in the war, he has suffered untold loneliness and despair. That is until he meets Kiara—a werewolf he’s forbidden to love.
Though Kiara needs Cruz, and wants him forever, werewolves and vampires are bitter enemies. To make matters worse, her Alpha, also her father, suspects that Kiara pines for a mate. Mistaking her sadness for the longing she feels for Cruz, he sets out to give her all the happiness he can provide.
Together, Kiara and Cruz will have to fight against the rules placed upon them to hold onto their love. But an unwanted visitor creates a complication neither of them planned for. Milo, Kiara’s chosen mate, has come to stake his claim. Now, not only are lives at risk, but hearts are threatened and dreams hang in the balance.

My Review
Two talented authors that bring all new meaning to sizzling-hot, action-packed, suspenseful page-turning paranormal romance books. The stories are both brilliantly written with a storyline that blends from one work to the other so that you feel that you are reading part one and two of an amazing series!

DEVON’S REDEMPTION by Eve Langlais completely captivated me from the first page. This is the first Eve Langlais work I have read and I cannot wait to read more from her. This is the story of Devon and Bethanny. They were in love and destined to be together until Devon is killed in a war. The problem is that he wakes up a vampire. He loves Bethanny so much, he vows to never see her again so that she may have a chance at a normal life. Bethanny hasn't been the same since she lost Devon. She was heartbroken, but things get even worse when a werewolf turns her and forces her to be his mate. Every day is a living hell, with only thoughts of revenge to keep her going. Their worlds change when Devon restraint wavers and he realizes he has to see Bethanny. When they see each other again, sparks fly and the love they had lives on, but who they are have changed dramatically. Not only are they on opposing sides of the supernatural world, but she is the mate of an Alpha that will not give up easily. Soon they have to make a decision: stay apart to keep the peace or risk it all to be together: including their lives! This is a truly action-packed, romance-filled, tear-jerker of a read that will take you into their world and keep you there until you read "The End"

CRUZ’S SALVATION by Stacey Kennedy takes place in the same world as Devon's Redemption. As everyone who reads this blog knows, I am a huge Stacey Kennedy fan and she did not disappoint. This is a steamy, action-packed thriller that takes you through a rollercoaster of emotion, danger, and sizzling romance. This is the story of Cruz and Kiara. Cruz is a vampire in love with Kiara, an alpha's daughter. They keep their love a secret because of the war between Vamps and Weres, but that doesn't stop how they feel about each other. Unable to see each other often, Kiara gets depressed and her loving alpha father believes it's because she wants a mate and that is when everything goes from bad to worse. When her father chooses a mate for Kiara, she is forced to make the biggest decision of her life: Accept her appointed mate that her father has chosen, or leave everything behind, including her pack and her adoring father, and the wolf inside to be with Devon forever. This is a captivating, sensual, tear-jerker, heart-racing thriller of a read that will leave you begging for more!

This book is rated 5 fangs!

The Blogger Apocalypse made me a little emotional. What is the most emotional scene in a book that you have read lately?
This is a toughie...It is not a book I read lately, but the most emotional scene I have read in a book that really sticks out is when Rue is killed and Katniss is unable to stop it in the Hunger Games. I literally cried and that is not something I usually do. Great, not I'm sad all over again!

Throwback Tuesday! Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble by HP Mallory

Here's our second Throwback Tuesday post!! "What is a throwback?", you ask. A throwback is literally bringing back (reminiscing) about some of our oldies, but goodies. Our Throwbacks will include past posts/articles that we want to bring back and on your screens for a day. Tuesday is now dedicated for the best books, reviews, q&a's (pretty much anything we want) that we love and think deserve further mention. Do you like the idea? Then publish your own Throwback and post the link below, I'll follow yours if you follow mine :-)

This week's throwback is my review of Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble by HP Mallory. This book solidified HP Mallory as a force to be reckoned with in literary world. She easily earned her spot as one of my favorite PNR/UF authors and has the staying power to keep that spot. Each book of each series just gets better and better, which is why she is this week's Throwback.

Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble, a Paranormal Romance (Jolie Wilkins Series, Book #1)

Title: Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble
Series: Jolie Wilkins Series, Book #1
Author: HP Mallory

Official Synopsis
A self-deprecating witch with the unique ability to reanimate the dead. A dangerously handsome warlock torn between being her boss and her would-be lover. A six hundred year old English vampire with his own agenda; one that includes an appetite for witches. The Underworld in a state of chaos. Let the games begin.

Life isn’t bad for psychic Jolie Wilkins. True, she doesn’t have a love life to speak of, but she has a cute house in the suburbs of Los Angeles, a cat and a quirky best friend.

Enter Rand Balfour, a sinfully attractive warlock who insists she’s a witch and who just might turn her life upside down. Rand hires her to help him solve a mystery regarding the death of his client who also happens to be a ghost. Jolie not only uncovers the cause of the ghost’s demise but, in the process, she brings him back to life!

Word of Jolie’s incredible ability to bring back the dead spreads like wildfire, putting her at the top of the Underworld’s most wanted list. Consequently, she finds herself at the center of a custody battle between a villainous witch, a dangerous but oh-so-sexy vampire, and her warlock boss, Rand.

My Review:
This book in three words: Amazing, Witty, Unique. This is the debut novel by HP Mallory, and already she has proven to be one of the best urban fantasy authors out there right now! This book is about a Jolie. She was just a person trying to live a somewhat normal life - other than the fact that she can see auras, ghosts, and runs a tarot/psychic reading shop - she was succeeding. All that changes when Rand walks through the door. The hot warlock quickly shows Jolie that she in not your average girl - she's a witch with unbelievable abilities, one of which is to reanimate the dead. All of a sudden Jolie is thrown into the hidden and divided world of the underworld where a war is brewing, and the one person who can tilt the balance in the war is Jolie. Hold on tight as Jolie takes you for the ride of your life! This book has it all! A likable and strong heroine, an array of interesting characters ranging from her human bff to a sexy and potentially dangerous vampire; powerful fairies and hot werewolves; witches and warlocks - just to name a few. Mystery, sexual tension, powers beyond belief, and fantastic writing will have you flying through the pages and dying for the release of the next installment! Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble, a Paranormal Romance (Jolie Wilkins Series, Book #1) is a must read!

This book is rated 5 fangs:
