Giveaway Info and Review of Urban Fantasy/Romance book Friday Night Bites (Chicagoland Vampires) by Chloe Neill
Title: Friday Night Bites
Series: Chicagoland Vampires, book 2
Author: Chloe Neill
The story of a young heiress's initiation into the dark society of the Chicagoland Vampires continues?
Ten months after vampires revealed their existence to the mortals of Chicago, they're enjoying a celebrity status usually reserved for the Hollywood elite. But should people learn about the Raves -mass feeding parties where vampires round up humans like cattle - the citizens will start sharpening their stakes.
So now it's up to the new vampire Merit to reconnect with her upper class family and act as liaison between humans and bloodsuckers, and keep the more unsavory aspects of the vampire lifestyle out of the media. But someone doesn't want peace between them, someone with an ancient grudge.
This book in one sentence: A must-read thriller that is filled with action, romance, suspense, kick-ass heroines (side characters included), and tons of hot creatures of the night. Loved it!
What can I say, this book is even better than the first. The characters we know and love are back in action and the world-building has expanded to give us a glimpse into the lives of werewolves - what's not to love?
Merit is a newly turned vampire, Sentinel of the Cadogan House (think of an hot vampire general with model looks) and the world on her shoulders. When an ex threatens her house, she must team up with her Master Ethan, who is both the biggest pain in her ass and the one who just may steal her heart. Together they must stop her journalist ex from releasing an article about Vampire raves. These raves are parties where humans become Slurpee's to the vamps are the last thing that they want the public to know about. They realize that all is not what it seems and this story is just the tip of the iceberg and the only way to stop it is for Merit to face the past and the life she has been trying to avoid all of her life. With her families "help" she entrenches herself into the life of the elite and with Ethan by her side, they soon come face to face with an enemy who wants them dead and to bring Cadogan House to its knees.
First things first: "Ethan and Merit - please hurry up and get together already!" Aahh - much better. The characters we know and love are in this book and even better than before. Merit has left her home to live at Cadogan house, which mean more time with Ethan - Yay!. Though they still haven't got together - Boo!. She is still learning how to adjust. One thing she doesn't do is submit to Ethan, and that is where that tension, both sexual and otherwise, comes in. I love the banter and the moments where they are able to let their guards down. Those "will they, won't they" moments are both entertaining and frustrating in a totally addicting way. Morgan is also in this book and is sorta-kinda dating Merit, although she is not rally sure what to do with him. He is funny, playful and seems to get her and I kind of feel bad for him. He needs to pickup the book: She's Just Not That Into You because the red signals are flashing on that relationship. Mallory and Catcher - another one of my favorite couples. They argue, they fight and they they makeup..rather loudly. They are so funny, each the complete opposite of the other. I laugh out loud whenever you get a glimpse into the life of these two.
The rest of the Cadogan and her grandpa's crime fighting gang is still the same and as funny and fun as ever. The new addition is the shifters, one in particular is her ex who seems to have the biggest grudge against Vamps. He threatens to bring down their house, but there is a mysterious back story that makes us realize it is much more than just his hatred for vamps.
I loved this book and am addicted to this series. This book is even better than the first and I finished it in one day - It is a must read!
This book is rated 5 fangs.
