Review and Giveaway of Urban Fantasy/Romance book, Some Girls Bite (Chicagoland Vampires) by Chloe Neill

Title: Some Girls Bite
Series: Chicagoland Vampires, Book 1
Author: Chloe Neill

Official Synopsis
First in a brand new series about a Chicago graduate student’s introduction into a society of vampires.

Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn’t exactly glamorous, but it was Merit’s. She was doing fine until a rogue vampire attacked her. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker—and this one decided the best way to save her life was to make her the walking undead.

Turns out her savior was the master vampire of Cadogan House. Now she’s traded sweating over her thesis for learning to fit in at a Hyde Park mansion full of vamps loyal to Ethan “Lord o’ the Manor” Sullivan. Of course, as a tall, green-eyed, four-hundred- year-old vampire, he has centuries’ worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects her gratitude— and servitude. But an inconvenient sunlight allergy and Ethan’s attitude are the least of her concerns. Someone’s still out to get her. Her initiation into Chicago’s nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war—and there will be blood.
My Review
This book in three words: Addicting, Thrilling, Funny
I have to start out by thank you - my readers - for telling me that I have to read this when I posted a To Read or Not To  Read article about this series. You were right - I loved the series! It was funny, action-packed, and filled with thrills, chills, and romantic tension that gave me goosebumps.

Merit was a semi-normal girl coming from a rich family but working hard to distance herself from them in order to make a name for herself. She does this by shunning the socialite lifestyle and becoming an academic. One night, her whole life changes when she is attacked by a vampire. What saved her is Ethan Sullivan - Master of Cadogan House and a vampire himself. He turns her and when she wakes up, she realizes her "life " will never be the same. Given the fact that the killer is still after her, the party is actually just getting started.

Her journey into the lifestyle of a vampire, Ethan's expectations of her which includes her servitude and her surprising role she is given in vampire society will have you laughing, gasping, and glued to the pages from beginning to end.

Merit is everything I love to see in a heroine: she is strong, smart, and a fighter. She bends the rules, goes against the grain and really knows how to shake things up - even the eldest of the undead cannot keep up with her. Ethan is a paradox - you love him, hate him, yet cannot stop fantasizing about him even when he pisses you off and I love it! He is not like the "normal" hero where all he does is pine for his love. Instead he is usually the thorn in Merit's back side and the banter between these two provides tons of entertainment.

The side characters are equally amusing. We have Merit's bff Mallory who is tons of fun and energy. Her life changes in unexpected ways as well so you have a great side story for the price of one :-) The connection they share will leave readers thinking of her as a bff too. There is also Catcher who is a sexy bad-ass sorcerer with a snarky attitude. You can't help but love him, especially when we get to see his softer side once he falls in love. With who? Read and find out :) We have Jeff the werewolf who is shy, strong and hilarious in a geeky sort of way. His snide comments will have you smiling. Merit and her Granddad's relationship will melt your heart , especially once you meet her ice-cold conniving father Joshua. Someone kill this guy please!  The only qualm is that the dialogue in the very beginning was not up to par. The author definitely got her groove as she finished up the series and this little peeve of mine was not a problem in book 2.

This book is amazing and highly addicting. I went through books 1-3 in two days..lol. If you want action, humor, and a teasing romance that will ave you screaming "do it already!" then this is the book for you!

This book is rated 4 1/2 fangs.
