Review of YA Fantasy book, Feyland: The Bright Court by Anthea Sharp

Title: Feyland, The Bright Court
Series: Book 2 of the Feyland Trilogy
Author: Anthea Sharp
Genre: YA Urban Fantasy

Official Synopsis
What if a high-tech computer game was a gateway to the dangerous Realm of Faerie?

~ Book 2 in the Feyland trilogy ~

Jennet Carter escaped the dark faeries of Feyland once. Now, fey magic is seeping out of the prototype game, beguiling the unwary and threatening everyone she cares about.

Tam Linn may be a hero in-game, but his real life is severely complicated. Still, he'll do whatever it takes to stop the creatures of Feyland, even if it means pushing Jennet toward the new guy in school--the one with an inside connection to sim-gaming... and the uncanny ability to charm everyone he meets.

Despite the danger, Jennet and Tam must return to Feyland to face the magic of the Bright Court--and a powerful new enemy who won't stop until the human world is at the mercy of the Realm of Faerie.

My Review
This book will pull you in from the very first page and not let you go. It is filled with action, mystery, and danger that will entertain both YA and adult readers.

Jennet and Tam barely escaped with their lives the last time they entered Feyland. It was suppose to be a game with mind-blowing effects, not the entrance to the an Otherworld with mythical creatures determined to find their way to the "real" world and take over. But, that is exactly what happened and now the game is about to be released, unleashing the path to the Faerie Realm to countless innocent players. Whatever happens in game is projected in real life, and once the entry to this Otherworld is broken, the characters will soon become this world's reality. The only two that can stop them is Tam and Jennet since no one will believe their story of survival. With the adults against them, the fate of the world on their shoulders, and only each other to count on - they must risk their lives to keep the Realm of the Faerie at bay. But will they be able to survive another trip to Feyland or will the world succomb to the magic of the Fae?

I am completely enchanted with this book. It is a fun-filled book that has an underlying innocence combined with  fiery action that I just can't get enough of.

Tam and Jennet lead opposite lives. Jennet comes from wealth, is outspoken and spirited, but she is also sincere and passionate. With her, what you see is not what you get. She is down to earth and can Sim with the best of them...including Tam. Tam is shy, comes from a poor and not-all-together family. He is the glue that holds his family and his friends together. When the two met, there was an instant connection that went beyond gaming, but he can't seem to let himself fall for Jennet. As they are thrown into the game that almost cost them their lives, they soon find that their destinies are intertwined and that it is more than just friendship between them. With love in the air, things get even more complicated when he must push Jennett into the arms of the new guy in school who seems to be enthralling the girls around him with magic that could only be from Feyland.

The addition of this new student is perfection. His whole being is mysterious - is he a good guy, a bad guy, and what is he doing for the Bright King that allows him to enthrall the ladies around him? This combined with the danger Tam and Jenette must face in their quest to save the world and the love that is budding between them, I found myself glued to the pages until the very end. I love Tam and Jenette, he is like the ying to her yang and I can't help but root for them, even with the world against them. The fact that Feyland will be unleashed on unsuspecting gamers is even more compelling. How are they going to stop a giant company from releasing their new game. Imagine trying to stop Microsoft (Xbox) from releasing a new revolutionary sim game because two kids said it takes them to Faeland - yeah right. This is the exact problem Tam and Jenette are having and I love taking the journey through the ever dangerous and mysterious Feyland as they try to stop this nightmare from unfolding. This time their opponent is the Bright King, and lets just say he is truly a puzzle that I am dying to solve. Don't let the whole "Bright" thing fool you, he is not all roses and sunshine and he sure proves it in this book.

Get ready for a fun read that combines mystery, romance, thrills and gaming into one unputdownable book....really, what more could you ask for? :-)

Review of Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy book Over The Cliff's Edge ( A Morganna Cork Novel) by B Jane Lawson

Title: Over the Cliff's Edge
Series: A Morganna Cork Novel, book #2
Author: B Jane Lawson
Genre: Adult Paranoral Romance/Urban Fantasy

The romantic tension between Morganna Stone and werewolf pack leader, Callupo Stone, reaches its breaking point as the Cliffside Inn is under siege and they navigate their way through the betrayals and dangers of this war.

As they battle for control of the Inn, loyalties are tested and lives are lost. Morganna’s survival hinges on finding out the dark family secret before Aiofe can.
My Review
In one sentence: This a hold-on-to-your-seat emotional thrill ride filled with laughter, tears, romance and non-stop action as Morganna and the gang race against time to uncover the family secret that can save their lives, while battling their hearts as they face love, loss and betrayal.
This book is amazing, with a capital A! I loved it and has done the impossible by being even better than it's five-fang predecessor - To The Cliffside. It takes everything we love from the first book - the characters, the action, the romance, the suspense, the mystery - and magnifies it to the umpth degree. I cannot explain in words just how much this series has completely entertained me and continues to race through my mind as I try to guess where the characters are headed next.
Morganna Cork has grown since the last time we've seen her. Being thrust into this magical community, she is learning to cope with her magical abilities. With her crazed aunt Aiofe after her and her cousin Maude, she must be prepared for anything. Situations only get more complicated when they learn that Morganna holds the key to Aiofe's fascination and in turn winning this war - the problem is that they don't know why. Conleth has many of the answers they seek, but he wants something in return - Morganna. If having a crazed lunatic after her, and one of the most pivotal people who can help them hell-bent on making her his wasn't enough, she also has to deal with the fact that Callupo Stone is now her werewolf appointed bodyguard. He is just as impossible as usual, and the fact that he is getting sexier by the minute isn't helping things along.

With the world stacking up against her, she must figure out the secret to a past long forgotten, try to save her heart from being irrevocably broken and come to terms with the fact that many of the people she trust may be the ones that want her dead. When all hell has broken loose, will you be able to make the ultimate sacrifice to keep the ones you love safe? That is just what Morganna has to figure out before it's too late...
I love every aspect about this book. Past details from To the Cliffside intertwine with this this novel as the storyline unfolds and we see what Aiofe wants and what she will do to get it. Their is no end to the major shockers in this book. You are guaranteed to laugh, cry , scream, and, in the end, beg B. Jane Lawson for more of this amazing series.
Callupo Stone may be my favorite non-hero hero of all. Kind of a weird statement, but it is true. He is such a complex character and his exchanges with Morganna are always a treat to read. They are both so passoniate in two totally different ways. He is strong, silent, brooding, kind of rude, and expects everyone to follow his orders. Morganna is spirited, funny, kind and free. She is happy doing the opposite of whatever Callupo orders and you just gotta love that. Together, they cause fireworks. The sexual tension between these two is through the roof and all I can say is...More Please!!
The side characters are just as unique and lovable. There is the usual crowd of Ralph - Cal's brother and Morganna's friend, who is equal part lovable and fearsome. Anya - the best friend - who is going through some growing up in this book as well. Niko - a potential opponent to Callupo - who is silent for most of this book, but whose brief appearances always make me smile. Ilana, who appears to be changing her spots from bitch of the year to just kind of bitchy. Mr. Henry, everyone's favorite old, charming and extremely powerful Majick. I was so happy that he plays a major role in this books.  The list goes on, but I just love this community of people and each time I pick up this series, I feel like I'm back, hanging out with a bunch of friends I haven't seen in a while....only true book lovers can truly understand what I mean.
There are some new additions as well: Conleth being the biggest. He is a peculiar thing filled with knowledge, sensual energy and this mystery surrounding him that is appealing. His exchanges with Morganna and the ever furious Cal was a great addition to this book. I cannot wait to find out what will happen in book 3.
If you haven't guessed by now - I Love This Series!! If you haven't read it yet, run out and buy it asap -you will not be disappointed. If you are a fan of the Charlaine Harris, HP Mallory, Jeaniene Frost, and Richelle Mead- then definitely check out the Morganna Cork Series!
This book is rated 5 Fangs!

Review of Paranormal Romance Novel: Destiny Bewitched by Leia Shaw

Title: Destiny Bewitched
Series: Shadows of Destiny
Author: Leia Shaw
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Official Synopsis
Deemed “trailer trash” by humans and the daughter of the most disgraceful family of witches and warlocks since the Puritan age, Samantha is used to fighting her own battles.

When her younger sister is taken to the Underworld, Sam doesn't hesitate to rescue her. To survive the harsh land, she makes a deal with a demon — the most dangerous of creatures in the realm. Even with those lustrous horns, Geo is as hot as the hell she's stuck in.

Fighting nasty beasts in a supernatural version of the gladiator games is easy compared to falling in love with a man who has no future to offer.

My Review
This book in one sentence: An action-packed and deliciously wicked tale of survival, love and the strength to overcome the impossible to get the things you thought you could never have: hope, happiness, and love.

Leia Shaw continues to amaze me with her new installment of the Shadows of Destiny series: Destiny Bewitched. Each book of the series is unique and unputdownable in its own way and Destiny Bewitched is no exception.

Sam is the tough girl who goes into every situation using her heart as her guide with her head trying to catch up to tell her she is nuts. She has a thick skin due to her questionable upbringing when the only person she ever loved and truly loved her, her sister, goes missing she will stop at nothing to bring her back - even if it means making a deal with a demon. Little did she now that Geo is not a demon and when she made the deal she is risking something more than her sister's life. As they journey together she realizes that it is now her heart that is on the line as their relationship grown with each passing day. Can she trust Geo with her heart, her own life and  that of her sisters or will she lose everything for making a pact with a demon?

Geo has been in the Underworld and knows how to survive, but when he encounters a witch, his whole world changes. A witch is the only being that could save him so he agrees to help her, but he never expected to fall in love. The bubble of protection he created in the Underworld is broken by the feelings that continues to grow for Sam. But how can he love someone he can't keep? She is from the Earth realm and he the Underworld. Is he going to lose the only woman he has ever loved?

They will soon find that nothing is ever as it seems. Together they must fight their way through a gladiator competition, try to find Sam's sister and figure out how to deal with their growing love for each other. With the world on their shoulders and the Underworld against them, will they be able to survive or will they lose it all in the face of pure evil?

This book is amazing. It is a fast-paced thrill right that I could not get enough of. The attraction between these two is pure fire, the love that grows is sweet, the twists and turns will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat and the ending will leave you in tears. I loved every second of this read!

Each installment can be read as a stand alone, but it is fun to see the way the characters and worlds of the other installments are weaved together through featured appearances of the main characters of her other books in the series. If you are looking for an unputdownable series filled with sensual romance, action and surprises - this series is for you!
