My Review
Sound is the conclusion to the Solid series and I am sad to see them go. As with every good series, I have become attached to my genetically altered, thus powerful group of people.
This series is about a group of kids who are sent to military "camp" after the army uncovers an unsanctioned experiment by a mad scientist which resulted in a bunch of kids being secretly genetically altered before birth. Throughout the series, we have seen them grow and take on the constant mysteries and danger lurking around them as murders and plots against them are uncovered usually spearheaded by Clio, who seems to have the most "powers."  This installment to the series includes more mystery, danger and murder, but the most dangerous part of all is that no one believes her. When the people you depend on are no longer there and the pieces to the puzzle brings you closer to the truth, will Clio be able to stop a conspiracy that threatens everyone she loves or will the life she has built come crumbling down?
Clio had it rough in the last book. She was almost killed, her now ex-boyfriend was in the hospital, her friends turned their back on her..and it was all her fault.
Now the time at camp is ending and as the time nears she is determined to put right all the wrongs in her life. But when strange things start happening around the camp, Clio realizes that something fishy is going on. The danger is not done and she will soon have to put her life on the line and her powers to use to stop this new threat from dangering the people she loves. I love her maturity. We have seen her grow and we now see the strides she has taken from the first book. She comes, or at least tries to, come out of her shell and put herself out there to show her friends that they do mean something to her. She was never the emotional type but she is trying to express herself in ways she never did before.
The rest of the gang is as entertaining as always. I am going to miss this unique group and am hoping for some type of spin-off so that I can see them again. I did wish their was more Ford in this book. I loved their banter in Settling and the brief appearance made me want to grab him and pull him back so I can have more time with Ford and Clio.
All together, this is a fun book. I still say that the second book of the series is my favorite of the three and it was a bit short for a final installment, but Sound did tie everything together. The ending is a bit open and I wonder if maybe we will be hearing from this group again in the future. I sure hope so.
