My Review
Billow in one sentence:  An action-packed, emotional rollercoaster ride of a read that will grip you from the very beginning and leave you begging for more.
It is official – this is one of my favorite urban fantasy series of all-time.  When I say it is unputdownable - I mean it and the bags under my eyes can prove it. This installment of the Ondine Quartet series took everything I loved from Whirl and amplified it. It has been six months since the last time we saw them, yet all that happened still haunts the characters.

Kendra was thrust into a situation that has left her confused and isolated, even when there are plenty of people around her that want to help. She lost her mother, learned that she is not only an Ondine (a water elemental) but also the Sondaleur - the prophesized savior of her race, and faced the evil that is Aquidae.

With being the responsibility of being the Sondeleur comes the feeling that the world is on her shoulders. The nightmares of all of the people she has lost and could lose if she doesn’t put an end to the Shadow, leader of the evil Aquidae, haunts her. She lost her mom, and her good friend Ryder: how many more will she lose before the war is over? This fear turns to obsession and the darkness seems to be closing in on her. Then the man she thought she’d never see again Tristan, the Selkie Prince, walks back into her life and makes things more complicated. WIll she ever find her path?

With her world spinning out of control, she must learn how to keep the darkness at bay while she battles the Aquidae and tries to take down the Shadow. With her entire race and the people she lovesmost hanging in the balance, will she be able to defeat the Aquidae and put an end to the war, or will the Shadow just continue to take away the people she holds dear until she is left with nothing?

Squeal! I just had to do that. This book is phenomenal! Along with the action, danger, mystery and bits of romance is pain, loss and self-discovery as the characters grow and learn with each situation they face. The layers are slowly peeled back revealing the inner most desires, fears and insecurities of our beloved characters.

Kendra is only 17, but she is a heroine to be reckoned with. She is fierce, dedicated and loyal to her friends. Behind her tough facade is a girl who feels lost and confused. She is a character we can relate to and empathize with. She is thrust with the responsibility of being the Sondaleur, and is also in love with someone she cannot have - not because she is not allowed, but because doing so would be the end of her mortality. That is an obstacle that is unique in that it is not forbidden love, but one which is physically impossible. I do hope Emma Raveling has a plan for Kendra and Tristan because they both deserve happiness.
Of course if that does not work out, there is always Julian. I love Julian. He is sarcastic, strong and smart, but has an underlying sweetness. As much as I love Tristan, I can’t help but hope that Kendra will at least give Julian a shot. The fact that he is much more involved and fleshed out in this book put a smile on my face. His appearance always guarantees a good time as he and Kendra banter away.
Along with our favorite threesome are Kendra’s friends and the introduction of a few new charaters who are also going through hard times. They are each so unique and strong in their own way. They are a great group of characters and I guarantte you will find yourself thinking of them as your friends.

All I can say is: Read This Book!! You will not regret it.

Biting Cold (Chicagoland Vampires) Email Exclusive

Here is the email I received. I can't wait for the release date!! Anyone else dying from the anticipation?!

-------------------------------------------

Less than One Month until the Release of BITING COLD!

We are less than thirty days away from the August 7, 2012 release of BITING COLD, the sixth book in the Chicagoland Vampires series! You can read the synopsis and first chapter here, but to whet your appetites, here's another special sneak peak about your favorite characters (via web site and Facebook voting) -- Ethan and Merit!

* * *

The necessities addressed, Ethan closed the bedroom door and locked it. When he turned around to face me again, his eyes had silvered—the sign of vampire arousal, emotional or otherwise.

Desire spilled into the room, rising above the scents of blood and leather and the well-oiled steel of our swords.

“We have unfinished business, you and I.”

My lips parted. “Unfinished business?” I asked, but there was no mistaking the look in his eyes—or the earnest intent.

An eyebrow popped up, challenging me to argue, but I wasn’t about to do that. He’d been gone for two months, and I figured the universe owed me one . . . even when his phone rang audibly from the pocket of his pants.

Ethan’s lip curled, but he managed not to look at it.

For a moment, we stood there in silence, staring at each other, desire curling between us like the forks of an invisible fire.

“It could be Catcher,” I said, not thrilled about the interruption—but equally unthrilled at the proposition that Mallory was floating around outside the farmhouse and we were ignoring the warning.

With obvious resignation, he pulled the phone from his pocket and checked the screen. “It’s Malik. I apparently missed some calls.”

I did a quick calculation. “It’s nearly sunrise here, which means it’s already dawn there. He stayed up—past sunrise—to get you the message. You should take it.”

He frowned, clearly torn by duty and desire. Since he’d normally have answered the phone immediately, I took that as a compliment.

At least I could ease the agony of the choice. “Take the call,” I told him. “I’m not going anywhere.”

He pointed at me. “This isn’t over,” he said. . .

Review of Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy book, Magic Rising by Camilla Chafer

Title: Magic Rising
Series: Book 3 of the Stella Mayweather Paranormal Series
Author: Camilla Chafer
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Rating: 5 Fangs

Official Synopsis
For Stella, the Witches’ Council Summit is supposed to be about getting to know her fellow witches but instead she finds herself on trial for murder. The accusations may be evidence of a sinister plot at work or they may be a ruse to draw attention away from the mounting tensions as the witches vie for supremacy. Reaching out to her boyfriend Evan for help would be reassuring… if he wasn’t oddly unreachable, working a case even his closest friend doesn't know anything about

As the ominous reasons behind the trial come to light, an assassin unleashes a terrifying campaign against the Council candidates. With tensions running high and accusations flying faster than a backfiring spell, the witches are forced to gather together for safety, but that might just lead to an implosion as the culprit is sought.

Plus there’s the small matter of an ancient talisman the werewolves want, a talisman that they say was stolen, but the more she investigates, the more it appears that it isn’t the simple artefact they claim it to be.

With Evan still missing and her world more complicated than ever, the choices Stella must make might confirm her place as a formidable witch in her new world or leave her excommunicated… forever.

My Review
This series just keeps getting better! If you love Magic, Mayhem, Romance and Danger, then this series is for you.

I have been a fan ever since book 1, Illicit Magic, was sent to me by Camilla and she has yet to disappoint me. Picking up a book from the series feels like getting reacquainted with old friends and I find myself fully invested in the characters, especially Stella.

Stella has grown so much as a witch coming into her powers and as a woman who is learning what she wants and how to get it. She has conquered the Brotherhood, an organization looking to eradicate all witches. She has defeated a deranged power hungry witch who also wanted to kill her and her friends. She has taken on a Necromancer and showed her whose boss. But now she is about to engage in the scariest task yet...surviving the Witches Council Summit.

She has a feeling that something isn't right about the Council and she is right. From the moment she gets to NY, the scary fun begins. Stella is on trial for murder, someone is murdering important witches, Stella's half-demon boyfriend has vanished and it looks like Stella and her friends are at the center of everything. Someone wants Stella out the way and will do anything to make it happen, even kill.

This book is non-stop action, mystery, murder and heartache as we join Stella in the race of her life. She tries to help her wolf friends find a tailsman that may give wolves an unbeatable power that may put all witches in jeopardy while trying to to prove her innocence to the Summit before they exile her, and help her best friend stay alive as she runs for the Council and all the nominees begin to mysteriously turn up dead. Every time I thought I had everything figured out, I learned I was wrong. There are so many twists, turns and surprises that you will race through the pages of this unputdownable read!

I love the development of the characters that we have come to know and love, the inside look at the Witches Council and the various mysteries that are pretty much unsolvable. The ending will both break your heart, band make you proud of the independent woman Stella has become. Of course, it also made me wish book 5 was about to be released because the suspense is killing me!

This another great installment to a truly magical series!

This book is rated 5 fangs!
