Poll Results So Far: Who do you hope will get the girl..The Hero, The Bad Boy or It Depends?

I posted a poll, that is still going strong, asking my fellow Paromantasy lovers who do you usually root for: The Hero, The Bad Boy or It depends on the book?... So far, It Depends, is the answer of the day with 73% of the votes. This is followed by 3% of you hoping the Bad Boy gets the girl and 2% hoping the Hero steals the show. I'm wondering...depends on what?

I wrote a blog rant post on My love of Bad Boys! I cannot help it - I may like the good guy, but I just love the unpredictable, manly sex appeal of the Bad Boy. There is something so tasty about the forbidden fruit, but what I love the most is the ability of the heroine to tame the "wild beast". I didn't even realize my obsession with bad boys until a friend pointed it out. I love Damon in Vampire Diaries and Eric in the Sookie Stackhouse series (True Blood). I was rooting for Adrian in Vampire Academy and Sinjin in the Jolie Wilkins Series. It is a sad love because we all know that nearly every author will end the series with the Hero/Good Guy getting the girl, but I always hold out hope that my Bad Boy will one day be the victor.

Who do you love - Bad Boys or Good Guys? Better yet, what does your love for a certain guy depend on? What makes you swoon or cheer on the sidelines? Who is your favorite hero/bad boy?

Can't wait to hear (or read) your thoughts :)

Character Interview with the Cast of the Paranormal Romance series, OF WAR, by Lisa Beth Darling + Excerpt from Women Of War

Today, Paromantasy is literally in the presence of godliness. We have the cast of the Of War series here based on the life of the God of War, Ares, and his love Alena. Lets give a warm welcome to Ares, Alena and Raven as we take a look into their lives!

Ares, Alena and Raven  - I am so glad to have you all here.
Alena: Thank you, we're very happy to be here.

How are you and the family doing?
The three of the exchange a peculiar glance before Ares answers: A little tattered and a little worse for wear but we're still standing and still together.  Hasn't been easy but so far so good.

For those that have not the books based on you guys, could you tell us a little about yourselves?
Alena: Oh my, well, I'm Alena, this is my Husband, Ares God of War, and of course our Son, Raven, and the little bundle of sunshine here is our Daughter, Rose.

Rose: Hi
Ares: In many respect we're just your average family.

Raven: (snorts a laugh) Yeah, if you're part of the Manson Family.

Alena:  Raven! Really, it's not that bad…well, maybe it is. (She smiles warmly and titters.) Still, I wouldn't trade it for anything.  We have our ups and downs, sometimes a lot of downs, but anything worth having is worth fighting for.
Alena and Ares - From the time you met on Ares Island to now, what has changed and what has stayed the same?

Ares: Our family is bigger.
Alena: You mean, we have a family now, we didn't when I first came to you.

Ares: I still love her. (He looks down at Alena) I think she still loves me.
Alena: Always.  We moved to Olympus for a while and that wasn't much fun for me, my in-laws are…well…they're nuts, to put it mildly.  Raven had a few growing pains…

Ares: Talk about putting things mildly? The boy damn near destroyed the planet.
Alena: (sighs) True, but you and Raven are doing your best to put it back together.

Alena - Do you think it was wise to stay with Ares after all he has put you through?

Alena: Yes.  My Husband gets a bad rap a lot of the time, he's never intentionally cruel to me or to our Children but he is the God of War so brooding and a hot temper come with the territory.
Ares: Is that all that's hot? My temper?

Alena: (smiles up at her Husband as she blushes lightly) No, there is that wonderful body of yours.
Raven: Gross, get a room.

Ares, if Alena had a family as crazy as yours and did all that you have done to her, would you have stuck around? (oh how I love to ruffle feathers)
Alena: Hummmm, yes, would you?

Ares: Of course, I simply would have stolen her away and never brought her back.  But you have to go a long way to surpass the craziness in my Family, they are quite self-centered…
Raven: Mostly they're bored off their butts up there in the cold and snow.

Alena: I suppose you have to find something to fill your time when you live several thousand years.
Alena and Raven, how has your relationship changed? Raven, You were pretty evil as a kid…

Raven: Evil? Maybe, mixed up is more like it. My Uncle Apollo put terrible ideas in my head about my Mother.  None of them were true, I see that now, but, yes, Apollo's lies and my temper almost cost us her life.
Alena: We're mending nicely, (she takes Raven's hand and gives it a little squeeze).  I think we'll continue to mend and then grow stronger together. I hope.

To all:
Is Aphrodite really an evil bitch?
Ares: No, as I said, they're just self-centered but Aphrodite is very vain as well.  Sometimes she gets a little obsessed, like all women in love from time to time.

Alena:  Except she's in love with you….
Ares: I am not in love with her, isn't that what counts?

Alena: Yes, but now she's after Raven too…
Raven: Mom, I'm a man, my sex life is my business.

Alena: You know I hate it when you say 'sex life'. (she groans and rolls her gray eyes)
Raven: Well, you're going to have to get used it because soon you're going to be a Grandmother.

Alena: Twice over.  I'm afraid Raven has inherited his Father's ravenous sexual appetite.
Ares: Just mine?

Alena: Oh, all right, mine too, but I'm only ravenous for you, my Love.

What is your biggest regret? What is your proudest moment?
Ares: Taking Alena to live on Olympus with me, we should have stayed on the island. I know I shouldn't have slept with Aphrodite but my Father made me.  It broke my Wife's heart even though I was only trying to keep my Family safe.  As for being proud, I am always proud of her. She makes me feel as though I can walk on air.

Alena: Losing faith in my Husband, that's my biggest regret, I should have known better. I never should have let the Olympians get under my skin and nearly tear us apart.  My proudest moment? Hopefully, that's yet to come.
Raven: Where do I start? I regret that I killed my Sister, she was a sweet kid, she didn't deserve what I did.  The worst thing was terrifying my Mother to the point that she fell down the stairs. I thought she was dead, I wanted her to be dead…

Ares: Raven!
Alena: It's all right, let him talk.

Raven: I was wrong and I'm so happy that she survived and she still loves me.  That's the one thing my Mother can teach me and the rest of the Family can't, not even Aphrodite; love, to love with an open heart and an open mind.  As for pride, I'm still trying to put mine back together but any time Rosey smiles at me, I feel blessed to be her big Brother.
Rose: Ray-Ray! (she blows her a brother a kiss)

Which of your Olympian family members is your favorite?
In unison: Eros

What is in store in the future installments of the Of War series, more specifically Women of War? I hear we get a glimpse into the world of the Fae and Ares life pre-Alena.
Ares: Yes, you will find out how the Fae came into existence and read about my younger brasher self. You may be surprised to discover the link between Alena and me, how Fate itself brought us together even if it did take 400 years.

Alena: There's just one more story left to tell, I'm afraid, "Kingdoms of War". I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure it will be an emotional rollercoaster ride, Lisa always does such a good job for us in the way she tells our story.  With any luck at all, we'll finally get our Happy Ever After.
Raven: Don't bank on it, you know how Lisa loves turmoil.

Ares: She's a romantic, in the end I'll get the girl.
Alena: You already have the girl or is there another?

Ares: There will never be another. Never.

Thank you all for stopping by. I cannot wait to read both Women of War and Kingdom of War. I'm sure I'm speaking for everyone when I say that we cannot get enough of the OF WAR series.

EXCERPT: G Rated (book is ADULTS ONLY)

"Hello, Norman," she whispered, holding fast to Maggie's hand.

"Mae," he returned through tight lips that broke into a wide smile when he looked down at the little girl with gray eyes and red hair.  "Aren't you a beauty, little lass?  A fine, fine, bonnie little lass."  He held his arms out for her but, even though Maggie wasn't afraid and even tried to go to him, Mae wouldn't let her.

"You shouldn't be here," Maven warned, "you're upsetting them."

Norman looked past Mae up the hillside to the clusters of Fey in the trees most holding a bow and arrow aimed in his direction.  "Let 'em be upset then," he sneered, "I want my daughter."

Suddenly Maggie began jumping up and down in place while she happily exclaimed, "The Prince!  The Prince!"  She wriggled her hand away from her mother and ran to him to have him sweep her up in his big arms and hold her tight.

"I can't believe ya told her that stupid story, woman," Norman remarked something near as a laugh as he took in the sight of the girl in his hand.  "That's right, little darlin', I'm the Prince, I'm your Da."  He planted a big kiss on her cheek before holding her up high with the full extension of his strong arms and wheeled her about in the air.  "What's her name?" he demanded in a grunt overshadowed by bliss.

"Magdalena," Maven whispered.

ALTERNATE EXCERPT: PG-13 Rated (please use whichever excerpt you think is best for your site)
This was the Age of Men, of War, and Conquest.  Looking down at his fingertips sparkling with glitter he knew not all of the Faery abandoned this place.  Despite the dangers to them, they stayed hidden in this hill.  Why that should be, he didn't know.  "I know you can hear me, so listen good.  If you're planning on joining in, don't," Ares warned in a low voice as he spoke to the night, "this is the province of men, not giggling bugs."  Rudely he flicked the sparkling dust from his fingers and finished his trip down the hill where he vanished and then reappeared behind the city walls in his own rather plush quarters in the remains of Dunbar Castle.  Grabbing up a fine crystal decanter in his big mitt, he poured half of the full container of the best Scot's Whisky one could steal down his gullet.  Dawn was still several hours away and he was in the mood for female company to while away the time between now and the battle.

Throwing open the heavy oak door, he looked out into the corridor with its burning torches lighting up the remaining grandeur of the crumbling castle walls.  He saw the guards at either end.  "Bring me a bitch, a young one," he ordered and then slammed the door only to open it again just as one of the men started off.  "Make it two."  Ares slammed the door again.  Restless and bored, he paced quickly about the room throwing his hand absently in the air, making the hearth spring up in a roaring blaze.  The time between the planning and the attacking was always the worst.  The waiting seemed to draw out forever no matter what he did to speed it up.  Walking heavily back and forth, his boots clopping against the stone below his big feet, he downed the rest of the whisky then snapped his fingers to refill the delicate decanter from the casks in the basement.  Just as he thought he'd lose all control to impatience, there was a knock on the door.  "Took you long enough!" he snarled as he threw it open to see the guard standing there with two Celtic beauties.  Ares' eyes appraised them even as they refused to meet his gaze.  "These will do."  He grabbed each young woman by the forearm and threw them into the room. "Bye."  He shut the door in the guard's face and locked it tight before turning to his new guests.  "Hello ladies, so good of you to join me tonight."

They didn't speak, they simply huddled together staring at him knowing what was coming and trying to figure a way to stop it.  Although they didn't know his name, he was familiar to them; they'd seen him around the town and knew the tall dark stranger to be a mercenary.  The man had no allegiance to Britain or the Crown; he was only here for the glory of the battle and only the battle.  He spoke with an odd accent they'd never heard and he was darker skinned than any man they'd ever seen with a body taller and stronger than a tree.

Ares swaggered toward them, his dark eyes scanning their bodies up and down, down and up, and side to side, as he bit down on his bottom lip.  Slowly he walked around them.  Both of them were nineteen or maybe twenty, both of them with fiery red hair and crystal blue eyes, their alabaster faces covered with freckles.  Strong bodies from working in fields had firm breasts below their flimsy cotton chemises. In the firelight, he clearly saw the curves of their shapely legs leading to the places between, the night's destinations.  "Sisters," he remarked as his full lips turned into a sly smirk and he drew in breath over his sharp teeth.  "How nice...for me," he whispered as he stopped in front of what he believed to be the younger of the two.  She didn't look at him so Ares grabbed her jaw and forced her head upward to meet his cold stare.  "There's no reason this has to go badly, hmmm?  A little cooperation and I guarantee you'll enjoy the rest of the night."  His smile widened when he felt her tremble and saw her pretty eyes dart away from him.

Review of Paranormal Romance / Urban Fantasy Novel, Malice In Wonderland (The Dulcie O'Neil Series) by HP Mallory

Title: Malice In Wonderland
Series: The Dulcie Series, book 5
Author: HP Mallory
Genre: Paranormal Romance / Urban Fantasy - Adult

Official Synopsis:
A broken relationship, tarnished with lies and deceit,
A father who wants her dead,
And a shocking surprise that could rock the very foundation of everything she believes in...

Fairy and law enforcement agent, Dulcie O'Neil, has to face the fact that her father, the Head of the Netherworld, is also Public Enemy Number One. In joining a group of rebels who would see her father dethroned, Dulcie will realize just what it means to go against her own blood. Throw in her tattered relationship with Knight Vander and the shock of a lifetime and Dulcie's life just went from bad to worse.
My Review:
This book is filled with danger, romance, sexual tension, humor and non-stop action, all tied with a snarky little bow. This combo of danger and humour, action and romance, dark scenes with light hearted fun is a winning recipe that HP Mallory has perfected, and it couldn’t be more true than in the 5th book of the Dulcie O’Neal series, Malice in Wonderland.
This book picks up right where Wuthering Frights left off. Knight discovers that Dulcie is not really working for her father and was instrumental in the latest drug bust, the leader of the Resistance is revealed, and now it is time for action in love and in war. With lies, deceipt and anger clouding Knight and Dulcie’s relationship, they are left with a relationship that is utterly broken. Will they be able to rekindle the love they once had or is the damage to deep to repair?
Along with Dulcie’s messed up romance, she also has to deal with her dysfunctional family which consists of a dictator father who would like nothing more than to see her dead if it meant keeping his power. With the war between the Resistance and her father growing closer, Dulcie must stop her father, deal with a broken heart and protect the people she loves before they are destroyed.
Loyalities are tested, relationships are rocked and everything that you thought you knew is about to be thrown a curve ball.
This book is amazing. Everythinig you love about this series is here, but with an emotional cloud that seems to be building throughout the book and explodes towards the end. You will run to buy the next installment of this book, I promise you that.
Dulcie and Knight are trying to mend a relationship that seemed unfixable after what happened in the last installment. The sexual tension, love and undeniable attraction between these two is explosive and I truly felt for them.
Unfortuantely for Knight, he is not the only one after Dulcie’s affection. Bram fans, get ready for some fun time with the dramatic vampire. I truly love the banter between Dulcie and Bram. He become a sort of protector to her in this book so they actually “live” together. Get ready for a very hot fog scene…you will know what I mean when you read it (get a cold glass of water ready!). Quinn is also back…can he be trusted? Well, you’ll have to read it and see, but I do love his gentleness…which is weird since he is also a criminal.
The usual gang is also back and I love the connections that Dulcie has with them. Sam, Trey and Dia feel like old friends to me and they always have Dulcie’s back. We also learn the ins and outs of the Resistance and their members. Get ready for some interesting characters.
All in all, this is another great installment to a truly incredible series!
This is another 5 Fang book by the great HP!
