Title: Malice In Wonderland
Series: The Dulcie Series, book 5
Author: HP Mallory
Genre: Paranormal Romance / Urban Fantasy - Adult

Official Synopsis:
A broken relationship, tarnished with lies and deceit,
A father who wants her dead,
And a shocking surprise that could rock the very foundation of everything she believes in...

Fairy and law enforcement agent, Dulcie O'Neil, has to face the fact that her father, the Head of the Netherworld, is also Public Enemy Number One. In joining a group of rebels who would see her father dethroned, Dulcie will realize just what it means to go against her own blood. Throw in her tattered relationship with Knight Vander and the shock of a lifetime and Dulcie's life just went from bad to worse.
My Review:
This book is filled with danger, romance, sexual tension, humor and non-stop action, all tied with a snarky little bow. This combo of danger and humour, action and romance, dark scenes with light hearted fun is a winning recipe that HP Mallory has perfected, and it couldn’t be more true than in the 5th book of the Dulcie O’Neal series, Malice in Wonderland.
This book picks up right where Wuthering Frights left off. Knight discovers that Dulcie is not really working for her father and was instrumental in the latest drug bust, the leader of the Resistance is revealed, and now it is time for action in love and in war. With lies, deceipt and anger clouding Knight and Dulcie’s relationship, they are left with a relationship that is utterly broken. Will they be able to rekindle the love they once had or is the damage to deep to repair?
Along with Dulcie’s messed up romance, she also has to deal with her dysfunctional family which consists of a dictator father who would like nothing more than to see her dead if it meant keeping his power. With the war between the Resistance and her father growing closer, Dulcie must stop her father, deal with a broken heart and protect the people she loves before they are destroyed.
Loyalities are tested, relationships are rocked and everything that you thought you knew is about to be thrown a curve ball.
This book is amazing. Everythinig you love about this series is here, but with an emotional cloud that seems to be building throughout the book and explodes towards the end. You will run to buy the next installment of this book, I promise you that.
Dulcie and Knight are trying to mend a relationship that seemed unfixable after what happened in the last installment. The sexual tension, love and undeniable attraction between these two is explosive and I truly felt for them.
Unfortuantely for Knight, he is not the only one after Dulcie’s affection. Bram fans, get ready for some fun time with the dramatic vampire. I truly love the banter between Dulcie and Bram. He become a sort of protector to her in this book so they actually “live” together. Get ready for a very hot fog scene…you will know what I mean when you read it (get a cold glass of water ready!). Quinn is also back…can he be trusted? Well, you’ll have to read it and see, but I do love his gentleness…which is weird since he is also a criminal.
The usual gang is also back and I love the connections that Dulcie has with them. Sam, Trey and Dia feel like old friends to me and they always have Dulcie’s back. We also learn the ins and outs of the Resistance and their members. Get ready for some interesting characters.
All in all, this is another great installment to a truly incredible series!
This is another 5 Fang book by the great HP!

Title: Better Off Dead
Series: The Lily Harper Series, book 1
Author: HP Mallory

Synopsis:
From New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author, HP Mallory, Comes BETTER OFF DEAD, the first book in the Lily Harper series!

If there’s such a thing as luck, Lily Harper definitely doesn’t have it.

Killed in a car accident before it’s her time to go, Lily learns that the hereafter isn’t exactly what she hoped it might be.

First, there’s AfterLife Enterprises, the company responsible for sorting out the recently dead and sending them on their way to the Kingdom, (aka happily ever after,) or to the Underground City, (not so happily ever after.) Learning that Lily’s death was indirectly their fault (her guardian angel, Bill, was MIA during her accident and was one of their employees,) Afterlife Enterprises offers Lily the chance to live again. But, as with most things involving the afterlife, beware the fine print. Most notably, Lily will have to become a soul retriever, venturing into the bowels of the Underground City to retrieve souls that were mistakenly sent there by Afterlife Enterprises during a Y2K computer glitch.

Second, there’s angel Bill. As if risking her second life in the Underground City wasn’t enough, Lily’s guide to the Underground is none other than her incompetent, alcoholic, womanizing guardian angel, Bill, the antithesis of anything wholesome. With only Dante’s Inferno and Bill to help her in her quest, Lily’s future isn’t looking bright.

Finally, there’s the legendary bladesmith, Tallis Black. As Scottish as his kilts and heavy brogue, Tallis Black is a centuries-old Celt who, for reasons only known to him, offers to train Lily and act as her escort into the depths of the Underground City. Dark, brooding and definitely dangerous, Lily knows she shouldn’t trust Tallis, but she also can’t deny her attraction to him.

Between soul retrieving in hell, dealing with Bill and trying to figure out what’s in it for Tallis, Lily wonders if maybe she would’ve just been better off dead.

My Review:
Is it even possible for HP Mallory to write anything but a hit series that will keep readers begging for more? If this series is any indication, the answer is no!

Immense danger, sexual tension, mysteries, humour  and romance combined with never ending twists and turns will keep your fingers turning the pages and you dreaming of the characters long after you read “the end.”

Lily’s life has ended, yet that is where her story truly begins. After dying in a car accident, Lily learns even death is complicated. After a little incident left her prematurely evacuating her body, she is given a second chance at life...by becoming an employee of AfterLife Enterprises. She will have a new life, a new identity and a new job as a soul retriever. Plus she gets to pick her body so that is always a thumbs-up. But Lily soon finds out that even in heaven, you have to read the fine print, as she soon finds herself in the depths of hell.

With no training, and only her Guardian Angel that got her killed in the first place by her side - she sets out on her first mission. On her way, she must first meet wtih Tallis - a bladesmith with a history written in the books and the body of a God. Little did she know that he would single-handedly change her life. He offers to help keep her alive, but what is in it for him? With her life on the line and two people she doesn't even know if she can trust by her side - she sets off to Hell to retrieve her first soul. Will she survive the depths of hell or will the people she has come to depend her make her wonder if she was better off dead?

Lily Harper is a complex woman. She is strong, yet insecure; scared but courageous; sexy but self-conscious. In other words, she could be any woman and that makes me like her even more. She’s relatable and someone I would be bff’s with…(in my head, we already are lol). She struggles with her new life and new found beauty, and as the book progresses you can see her grow into her own. I can’t wait to see what is in store for Lily and hew new life. Especially as it pertains to Tallis.

Tallis is brooding, mysterious and sexy as hell. You never know what he's thinking and is completely unpredictable. His history has made him tough, but we soon see that Lily doesn't take no for an answer. Both are strong willed and the sexual tension that develops will definitely keep you turning the page. His ulterior motives are unclear, but one thing is for certain - he definitely has an interest in Lily.

Along with Tallis and Lily is Bill - the unconventional Guardian Angel. He's hilarious, annoying, raunchy and I love every minute of it. He will keep you laughing out loud at his outrageous antics.

To say I love this book would be an understatement! The characters, the plot, and the mix of comedy, romance, mystery and thrills makes this book unputdownable!!

I cannot wait for the next installment. The one thing I disliked about the book is that it had to end!

This is another 5 Fang book by the great HP!

Review of Urban Fantasy Novel: Crest by Emma Raveling - Part of my top 10 giveaway!

Title: Crest
Series: Ondine Quartet Series, book 3
Author: Emma Raveling
Genre: Urban Fantasy, suitable for YA

Synopsis
Illusion. Power. Identity.

Tensions are reaching a fever pitch everywhere Kendra Irisavie turns.

Darkness settles over elementals as a new threat stirs suspicions of a betrayal from within. Details of recent events spread through Haverleau, prompting doubts over Irisavie leadership. The mysterious Selkie Kingdom finally opens its doors, but the gesture only fans the flames of division. And despite the perils involved, Kendra finds it difficult to ignore the demands of her heart.

As the body count rises, pressure also grows to shift the tides of war. The sondaleur is on the hunt, but tracking the Aquidae leader is the greatest challenge she's ever faced. With the Shadow playing a deadly game of obsession and horror, Kendra's best chance to win is to unravel a tangled web of deception spanning back to the origins of the elemental world.

Nothing is what it seems and the closer she gets to the truth, the more dangerous her pursuit for answers becomes. When the unthinkable happens, Kendra must decide if survival is worth the sacrifice.

Conflicting loyalties, fierce passions, and irrevocable choices ignite in the electrifying third installment of the Ondine Quartet.

My Review
Ondine Quartet is one of the best Urban Fantasy series I have ever read,! It has completely won my heart, and that is why it has earned a spot on my Must Have Books of 2013. Emma Raveling has done a wonderful job creating a world, and characters, that instantly draws the reader in and never lets you go. Each installment gets better and I am on pins and needles waiting for the next book!

Get ready...because from the very first page, you are thrust into a world of magic and mayhem. Crest is an adventure filled with mystery, romance, danger and suspense that grips you from the very beginning!

Kendra has faced loss, love and betrayal, but none bigger than the one she faces now. As she gets closer to finding the Shadow, she realizes that all she thought she knew is not as it seems. People she loves are dying, and the Shadow is always a step ahead of her. To make matters worse, the love she has for the Selkie King is growing, but the fact remains that theirs is a forbidden love that comes with a price.

As Kendra races to end the war that will save all elementals, she is forced to face the fact that she may have to give up everything to save the ones she loves. What do you do when those you trusted are the ones that turn on you? Will Kendra have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save her people, or will she lose everything she loves to the Shadow?

This book is amazing! Every page brings a new clue to solving the mystery of the Shadow. And with each clue, there is also loss. People are dying, the elementals are looking for answers and all eyes are on Kendra. With the pressure building, she soon learns that the one person she can trust is herself.

The Shadow is the most important issue, but definitely not the only problem Kendra is facing. The feelings she has been running away from, for Tristan, has only intensified. Along with learning how to fight the Shadow, she is also trying to fight the budding romance that is not only forbidden, but impossible. The problem is neither knows what to do...the heart wants what the heart wants.

There is also the problem of Julian. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Julian has always been a favorite of mine, but when he doesn't get his way...watch out! I am still rooting for him, but the question remains...can we trust him?

The rest of the gang is also there to lend Kendra a hand. But, as the puzzle pieces come together, the target on their backs have grown and the Shadow is ready.

With love, friendship and the survival of the entire elemental race on Kendra's mind, we have to wonder - can and will she be able to save them all? And if she does, will she have to sacrifice herself to make it happen?

This is truly a nail-biter of a read. My heart was elated with each battle won, filled with love as Kendra faced her feelings for Tristan, heartbroken with each life lost and completely torn as the secrets are revealed, and we must face the fact that the people we thought we could trust are the ones behind the war.

This book is rated 5 Fangs - Incredible!!
